Come on Pete give us a real review, let's see how you feel about it and how it suits the real world.
Actually I thing we need more reviews of the bikes we have from those of us who use them.

Difficult to say really Simon....I haven't done many miles on it yet and I'm still waiting for an air filter. The one in there has disintegrated.
Once that goes in and I get more saddle time then I can say a bit more.
However I can only evaluate it's ability on the road....I don't know enough about offroading to be able to say.
I can tell you that I was out with Ren and a few of his boys two weeks ago.
And I rode from Llandovery to Brecon with them, which is a pretty twisty road.
The bikes there were stuff like ZRX, ZZR, XJR, Blackbird etc, and as Ren will tell you I was with them all the way. In fact I was well ahead of quite a few of them tbh.
No idea how fast I was going as the speedo is in kms and the gearing has been altered, but the guy on the ZZR1100 was quite surprised when I was still behind him when he was showing 90.
Which does sound a bit implausible but it's true. Ren will confirm.
I think it surprised everybody (including me) at how well it went, and one of the guys said to me...."that goes well for a 400"......he was gobsmacked when I said it was a 250.

When I get the new air filter and an NGK Iridium plug then it'll be ready to rumble.
The thing is, if you're on fast open roads then you're not going to get anywhere very fast on it.
But on narrow, twisty roads like where I live, then it really comes into it's own.
Very, very good brakes too....and the seat is much more comfortable than my XT600 was.
Probably getting over 60mpg on it, but bear in mind that's when it's being ridden hard. More conservative use should see 70mpg.
Handling is excellent for road use, and the suspension seems to be very good.
It's got Mitas Trials tyres on it, and even though they're quite square in profile, they still appear to give good grip.

Confirm what ? How would I know ? You were behind me so I couldn't see what you were doing :roflol:
It does go well, and he wasn't that far behind, but bear in mind it was my slow day and smoke breaks are important, and the roads were a bit greasy and muddy especially on one corner :w00t:

That was quite funny on the muddy corner Phil. Mike and Dave were braking and swerving either side of the mud,and I kept the throttle pinned and went straight through the middle of it.

Few questions on the Farm Simon:
1. Where?
2. When?
3. What gear would I need? I don't have any off-road stuff. I've got a full face lid, Frank Thomas Pro Aqua boots that look like hiking boots, only with ankle guards and toecaps, and a Frank Thomas Aquaguard advanced jacket that's warm and comfy.
But depending on work, exams, in principle, why not?

I've got no offroad gear either. Fuck that shit.
Black leather jacket, Levi's and a total lack of skill have always worked for me! :Yen:

I usually point out hazards to the riders behind me, but that pile of mud caught me too quickly to warn the others. :w00t:

I've dismounted dirt bikes at various times in my life...no big deal.
The nose break was caused through not wearing a helmet though. But it's been bust about 6 or 7 times before and doesn't bleed now or hurt particularly much. I just push it straight and carry on! B)

It makes my eyes water just thinking about it! :o
As for where, er ask Pete, Pete where is it?
When, last weekend in Feb.
Just get an off-road lid as it'll let you breathe a bit easier. Mines only a cheap £50 one. But it's not needed if you can't afford it, but it could be useful if want to do some more riding later in the year.
anyway have a look.
